Hey friend, Liz here.
Four people live in my house in a suburb outside of Denver, Colorado: myself, my husband, and my two elementary-aged kids. We have one working car (barely), no pets, and extended family an hour south.
It’s complicated to decide what to do about guests in these holiday months where we’re all talking about infections and closures and lockdowns. Family and friends may join us for celebratory meals, or they may not. (We should probably decide soon!!!!) We’re all a bit depressed about it, doesn’t matter your politics.
But I’m convinced that “normal” is the wrong metric by which to judge our times. We need to acknowledge the in-between-ness, the grief and gratitude getting too close to each other, like teenage PDA. (You can do that? In public?)
But regardless, you can always make a memorable meal, even if it’s it a meal for one. Or in our case, for a table of four.
Last week I shared some of my favorite meal-related reads. This week, I’m inviting you to my table. I can practically smell the sting of the cranberries, can’t you? ;-) I hope it provides you with inspiration, and also with that more important and less tangible gift, hope. Bon appetit!
Warmly, Liz Charlotte Grant
P.S. I’m doing a GIVEAWAY on my Instagram today! ;-) I’d love you to enter!
