Hello friends, Liz here.
This is a break from our regularly scheduled programming because I have a gift for you.
Because you are a paid subscriber to the Empathy List… I want to say THANK YOU by sending you something fun—a tiny book (chapbook)! By moi! Designed with original art by my favorite illustrator, Jeremy Grant*. (*Also my husband)
Chapbooks have a long literary history, but my favorite chapter is the 1990s grunge Seattle ‘zines (short for magazines), in which designers and writers and copy machines got together to make ephemeral, strange handheld works of paper art. This book is in that vein. ;-)
Inside, you’ll find an essay I wrote for the Christian Century last year that just so happens to be an adaptation of the first chapter of my forthcoming book. The centerfold contains a digital collage (printed, not scraps of paper).
Note: if you’re currently a paid subscriber, but you become one for this month only, you’re still eligible to get one of these books. ($3.50/month)
